PURPOSE

The objective of the 9U Division program is to get young players interested in baseball by stressing and maintaining active participation of all players with an emphasis on teaching the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and safe environment.

9U A baseball is played with the use of a pitching machine operated by the team at bat's coach. Hitters are limited to 5 pitches per at bat and may strike out should they not put the ball in play within the 5 pitch allotment, excluding foul balls. All players in the lineup are in the batting order and there are unlimited defensive switches for the 9 players in the field throughout the game with Fair Play rules applying at all times. In addition to several other rules to promote sportsmanship, fun and speed of play, offences are limited to scoring 5 runs in an inning with the exception of the "open inning" as identified by the umpire.

9U A teams tend to have a roster of 10-12 players, depending on total registration at this level. The Lakeshore Lynx are our 9U A team competing in the Ligue de Baseball Lac St-Louis versus teams from other associations in the Region (Teams may vary depending on years)

Players can expect a regular season consisting of around 20 games, and to be on the field approximately 3-4 times per week from late May through the middle of August. The Regional Championships include all teams and immediately follow the end of the regular season. The Regional champion gets the honour of representing the Lac St-Louis region in the Provincial Championships. In addition to the regular season and Regionals, the team may enter into a sanctioned BQ tournament.

9U B division, until the age of 8 or 9, young people are essentially acquiring motor skills: they need to move more. By having fewer players on the court than in a traditional 9v9 environment, 6v6 allows young players to have the opportunity to learn techniques at different positions more quickly. This game mode was developed with the aim of making baseball games more attractive by adapting certain rules. Thus, the 6 against 6 ensures that:

the game is adapted to the skills of young players the interest of the player is constantly supported players are more often on the move What is that?

Intended for 9U division players, the 6v6 game mode is used during the regular season as well as in tournament play in the 9U B and 9U Grand Slam divisions.

Six players at a time take up defensive positions and are all positioned in the infield and inside fair territory. A maximum of two players can be placed at the pitcher's defensive position and the other four players should be distributed at the positions of 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, shortstop and 3rd baseman. No player occupies the positions of outfielders or receivers.

Offensively, the 6-on-6 game mode gives players the opportunity to come back to bat more often. Six batters will take turns at batting during an inning, regardless of the number of outs made. Pitches are made with a pitching machine, but if the batter does not touch the ball after three pitches, he may have two swings on the t-ball to complete his turn at bat.

Players can expect a regular season consisting of around 16-18 games, and to be on the field approximately 1-2 times per week from late May through the middle of August. The Regional Championships include all teams and immediately follow the end of the regular season. The Regional champion gets the honour of representing the Lac St-Louis region in the Provincial Championships. In addition to the regular season and Regionals, the team may enter into a sanctioned BQ tournament.
